Eric’s current research project, Jesus, the Javanese Prophet, is seeking to discover the ways in which Javanese Muslim communities have historically found meaning in the stories of Jesus beginning with the Javanese translation of the Qisas al-Anbiya in 1859 through the contemporary period. Eric completed an BSBA and an M.Div with a focus on New Testament studies. He has been interested in research on Jesus and the Gospels for many years, but after diversifying his experiences by interacting with Arab Muslim communities about Jesus and reading academics such as Reza Aslan on Jesus from a Muslim perspective his view of Jesus has since been expanded. Eric is also interested in Social Theories, Islamic Thought, Javanese Culture, and Inter-religious Dialogue.
