Fuji, an Assistant Professor in Sociology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia, has a master's degree in Anthropology and Development Studies from Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands (2015), and is pursuing a doctorate at Interreligious Studies UGM (2023–present). His doctoral research deals with the intersectionality between mental health issues in transcultural sociology of health with ethnicity and religion/spirituality in Buddhism. With ethnographic experiences outside of Indonesia, such as Madagascar, India, the Netherlands, Indochina, and others, he goes further into expertise in Ethnicity, Religious Studies, and Social Development. In addition to lecturing as of 2018, he has been involved in advocacy activities, applied research, and legal writing for the regional people's representative. His clients have included international organizations such as Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, SGP UNDP, Rutgers, the Asia Foundation, and others. Indonesian literature scholars have studied his 2017 Javanese Critical Ethnohistory award-winning novel, "Kadang Suriname Sanak Merapi," while he was a Research Fellow at the National Library Board of Singapore. In social services, he mentors interfaith meditation for mental health at Yogyakarta Buddhist monasteries under the Theravada name Saccavacako and is a volunteer counselor lecturer for students’ learning resilience with mental health advocacy in the scope of sociology.
