Originally from Solo, Safi worked professionally for 16 years teaching English and giving training on hospitality service for staff and interns in the hotel industries in Yogyakarta. She took English Literature for bachelor degree and master in Tourism Study in Universitas Gadjah Mada, where she focused her writings on social and cultural aspects in society. Her active participation as a volunteer, one of the branches in a religious lay movement Focolare based in Italy which has been growing since 1980 in Indonesia, encourages her to do a doctorate program in ICRS to concretely build dialogue of life among people of different religions.
Her research interest is the concept of one human family in Focolare which allows members to live their vocations in their own environment accordingly and engage interaction with people within and outside the movement. Safi is also interested in Women Leadership, Formation with the Young People, Human Rights and Humanity, as well as Inter-religious Dialogue.
